Trees are best left to grow and be healthy. However, we all know that sometimes this can cause problems. So rather than removing a tree, getting it pruned or having the crown reduced is a nice compromise. For the tree’s health, the earlier the pruning takes place, the better.
Removing small amounts of branch material is better for the tree, as it reduces the risk of disease entering the tree wounds. So if you are living with an oversized tree that needs pruning, little and often is better than hacking off huge amounts of the canopy in one go, even if it means doing small amounts over several years.
Reshaping the crown of the tree may be needed if the growth has become one sided and is putting a lot of stress on the stem and roots.
We carry out tree pruning to the standards set in BS 3998:2010.
